Caudiciformi e Pachicauli

DESCRIPTION

Often compared to plant sculptures due to their suggestive shapes, or simply to natural bonsai, the caudiciforms and pachicauli represent a category of succulent plants completely transversal to genres and families, which has been able to win the appreciation of botanists and collectors for the multiplicity and the originality of the forms of growth. These plants, often very distant from each other in terms of botanical taxonomy, are united by the presence of an enlarged woody organ, located in the lower part of the trunk, the caudex, often partially buried and assigned to the water and energy reserve, or with a squat shape and robust throughout the trunk (pachicauli forms), on which unexpected flowers and an ephemeral seasonal foliage stand out. This book introduces the collector and the cultivator to the general aspects of caudiciforms and pachicauli, deepening the genera and species most widespread in cultivation. Together with the botanical information, biology and distribution of plants in habitat, advice is provided for correct cultivation and multiplication, the result of the personal experience of the authors.
